Jaime Munguia was close to earning a middleweight title shot against WBC champion Jermall Charlo by the middle of this year. All he had to do was beat Carlos Adames in a title eliminator fight. However, those plans aren’t happening immediately.

Mexican prodigy Munguia has withdrawn from the bout against Adames, and he shall now have to wait longer to earn a title shot in the 160 lbs category. Munguia is 5-0 in the division and has already claimed the WBO Intercontinental title.

That said, the recent disruption in his upcoming fight plans isn’t good news for the fight fans. Per ESPN’s Mike Coppinger, a dispute regarding the US broadcasting service for the fight has caused the altercation.

Several reports also suggested Golden Boy Promotions and PBC couldn’t come to terms, which caused a fall put. Meanwhile, it complicates the road ahead for Jermall Charlo too. ‘Hit man’ came close to bagging a super fight against Canelo Alvarez a few weeks back, a bout he had desired for a long time.

However, Alvarez ducked the chance and preferred to battle Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light heavyweight strap on May 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. While a mandatory fight for his title is also not happening immediately, Jermall Charlo‘s return to action may delay.
