The discussions leading up to a bout may just be as violent in the world of boxing as the actual battle. Fans were quick to blame Floyd Mayweather Jr. after negotiations for a welterweight unification title fight between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. broke down over a dispute about the sum to be split. Because of his role in the negotiations and his reputation as a contentious character, Mayweather became a popular target for boxing fans looking for someone to hold responsible for the negotiations’ failure.
Fans may not realize it, but Mayweather’s involvement in the scandal is far more complicated than they may assume. Al Haymon, Mayweather’s former manager, participated in the negotiations, although there is no concrete proof that he is to be held responsible for the $50 million fight fiasco.

Fans react to Errol Spence Jr’s claim that Floyd Mayweather had no say in his fight against Terence Crawford
Errol Spence Jr. recently spoke in an interview and was asked if Floyd Mayweather had any say in whether he would fight Terence Crawford. Spence Jr.’s reply was straightforward, stating that Mayweather did not have any say or control over when he fights and that people tend to take whatever Mayweather says and run with it.
This response sparked a range of reactions from boxing fans. Some took the opportunity to criticize Mayweather, who had been accused of blocking the fight between Spence and Crawford, while others defended the former champion.
One user commented, “Let’s see if all those Floyd haters in that ‘community’ that I will not name will clean up their previous comments. They made dozens of videos accusing Floyd of blocking the fight.” Another user had other views, and said, “Everyone now knows Crawford stopped the fight. No one else.”
A user named Michelle expressed frustration with the ongoing talk of the potential fight. “They killin’ my motivation for this fight. Like this is why UFC is the sh*t cuz Dana White make the fights we want when we want them. I’m so tired of Spence vs Crawford talk. Like either get it done or move tf on,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, some fans focused on the details of the failed negotiations between Crawford and Spence’s respective promoters. “I love Floyd, but I don’t care what he says, he knows that he advised Crawford to make those demands!” wrote one user. “How do we know that? If you go back and look at his first contract that Floyd negotiated himself, he demanded almost the exact same thing,” wrote another.

Overall, the reactions to Spence Jr.’s statement were varied, reflecting the ongoing controversy and speculation surrounding the potential fight between the two welterweight champions.
