This puts Benavidez as a relevant contender in the super middleweight title ride. The 24-year-old is one of the best punchers in the division. So, several people want him to face the mighty Canelo Alvarez.

Maybe it’s too quick, but Benavidez vs Alvarez can determine the future of the division.

Former champion Mikey Garcia has all his love towards this possible matchup. He even considers Benavidez to be a tough-call for Alvarez.

Speaking with FightHype.com, Mikey Garcia hailed Canelo Alvarez as the favorite but didn’t rule out Benavidez’s chances in the fight.

“I don’t think Benavidez is going to be the one to like, Canelo will just bully him around either. I think Benavidez is down. He is a gangster,” said Garcia.

He added, “But it’s not gonna be an easy fight for him (Canelo) either. It will be a very close fight. Benavidez is fast, he is strong, confident, young.

“He might lack a little bit of experience, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have enough tools to win. Experience isn’t the only thing that requires.”
