The brightest lightweight prospects from America, Ryan Garcia, and Devin Haney have taken shots at WBC. Both have raised questions over the organization for creating a mess over belt situations in the lightweight roster.

Garcia has however not directly aimed at WBC, but he has laid out his concerns on the same.

As per Michael Benson, ‘KingRy’ said, “I’m not taking a shot at any organization, but they messed up and need to be held accountable. There’s too many belts in the game, we all know that. How can people know who’s the champ?”

Furthermore, the WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney mocked the WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman.

‘The Dream’ said, “(Mauricio Sulaiman) says one thing to one interviewer, another thing to another interviewer. He says one thing to me, he says one thing to Teofimo. He says one thing in this interview, he says another thing in that interview, he says another thing in that interview, just to get out of it.”

Ever since Teofimo Lopez won his bout against Vasyl Lomachenko, he got adjudged as the undisputed lightweight champion who held WBA, IBF, and WBO titles. But without the WBC belt, Haney feels one cannot call Lopez the undisputed champion. ‘The Dream’ even mocked WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman for not sticking to his words.

‘KingRy’ and ‘The Dream’ seem to agree on this prevailing concern in the lightweight division. They believe that too many belts often confuse the audience and do not truly reveal the real champion of the division.

Boxing has too many divisions and too many belts, which becomes difficult for fans to understand. Most of them feel that there should be just one belt to award the champion rather than multiple belts to confuse one and all.
