After much rigmarole and delay, the WBO welterweight champion, Terence Crawford, will finally get inside the boxing ring for his next title defense. He will lock horns with the stout Shawn Porter on November 20 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. This fight ranks among the most important and perhaps the most exciting title defenses for Crawford.

However, it seems he isn’t quite interested in battling Porter as his aim is to get lined up for a couple of big fights.

In a fresh conversation with Top Rank Boxing, he said, “I’ve been calling for these fights. I mean Shawn, we talked about fighting. I’ve told him like I’m not looking to fight you. I’m looking to fight Spence. I’m looking to fight, you know, Keith Thurman, because you know they got something to offer.”

“I’m looking at them, trying to use Shawn as a pun because they know Shawn, he don’t fight anybody. If I do too good, they might back up even more.”

For a long time now, a matchup between Crawford and Spence Jr. has been the talk of the town. Both of them have challenged each other for a fight umpteen times, but their teams couldn’t finalize a deal.

Regardless of that, ‘Bud’ still has his sight set on a fight with his rival compatriot. For now, Spence Jr. is under-recovery as he suffered a brutal eye injury in a sparring session a few months back. Once he’s fully set to go, their teams might get in touch for a fight again.

This fight is important for boxing as well as the stacked welterweight roster. As a result, more than anyone, Spence Jr. and Crawford should themselves be on the toes to confront each other.
