2020 wasn’t a memorable year for many athletes out there, including Vasyl Lomachenko. He fought just once and succumbed to a loss against Teofimo Lopez. Had he won that fight, the Ukrainian boxer could have been adjudged as the unified king of lightweights.
But ‘Loma’ seems to have moved on from that and is keenly focused on making 2021 his best year. He shared a picture of himself with a fiery caption on Instagram.
“I have my back, I leave no room for doubt! 2021 I can’t wait to…” he penned.

Lomachenko looked rugged in this picture with his boxing gloves on. It looks like he is priming himself to make a massive statement.
Ever since that Teofimo Lopez loss, ‘Loma’ has dedicated more hours in the gym, trying to figure out and work on his weaknesses. The 32-year-old lost his second boxing bout in 2020 after almost 6 years from his first. He picked up pace in later rounds of the fight, but in retrospect, it was too little too late.
Nevertheless, the lightweight sensation hasn’t budged from his aim after that loss. Instead, he will look to make a worthy comeback that will help him regain the lightweight throne.

Lomachenko has just one opponent in his head, and that is Teofimo Lopez. Ever since that loss, the southpaw has been constantly asking for a rematch to settle the scores. This rematch will be the most important fight of his career, as it will come with extremely high risk and high rewards.
Lopez is officially unaligned with any opponent for now, and a rematch might just be on the cards for both of them.
