Canelo Alvarez created history this Saturday in Las Vegas by becoming boxing’s first-ever undisputed unified super middleweight champion. The P4P king snatched Caleb Plant’s undefeated record and the IBF title via an 11 round KO, claiming his fourth win in the past 11 months.

Ending all the bad blood with Plant, Alvarez hailed his American rival after the clash. But it was he who proved to be the better man that night. The fight was close till it lasted and Plant was chasing Alvarez brilliantly on the judge’s scorecard. However, boxing isn’t just about numbers and Canelo Alvarez proved it by landing haymakers in the championship rounds.

After the fight, he received a grand reception from the Las Vegas crowd. Despite being the away-fighter, Alvarez had several fans in the arena. He seemed to have more fans than Caleb Plant in the USA. From children to teenagers and aged, several fans gathered to greet Canelo Alvarez, who made time to take pictures with all of them.

As the P4P king now has all four belts at 168, it calls for a needed lay-off. After four fights since December 2020, he claimed his body needed rest and revealed an in-ring return in May 2022.

Having beaten all the super middleweight kingpins, he may defend his belt against mandatory contenders next. Furthermore, Alvarez could even opt to move to light heavyweight and look to conquer a new division.

Since his sole career loss to Floyd Mayweather in 2013, Saul has appeared invincible. Although Gennady Golovkin and Erislandy Lara gave him a tough time, they could not beat him. After the 168 pounders tried and failed, Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol could be prime names to fight Alvarez should he move up.

Besides, a trilogy fight against Gennady Golovkin is also on the cards. However, that would require ‘GGG’ to move up to 168. As Alvarez is the main man in boxing, it could happen as a fight against Saul could give Golovkin a massive pay day before he calls it a day.
