In a few hours from now, Vasyl Lomachenko will take up the ring space for an important encounter against Richard Commey. The lightweight icon is an obvious favorite to win this fight and fans expect him to outclass Commey with his power. Many consider Lomachenko’s fighting style is similar to that of the boxing great, Mike Tyson. But are they two really similar in any way?

In 2017, Joe Rogan made a stupendous comparison between Tyson and ‘Loma’s styles. Moreover, he gave a candid notion of what he actually felt about the pair’s styles.
He said, “Well, Tyson did do it. Tyson learned it from Cus D’Amato. Cus D’Amato was teaching this way back in the f***in 50s. But his style was Mike Tyson’s style was so much different because he was throwing howitzers at you. Lomachenko is not knocking anybody out with one punch. He’s hitting you with multiple barrage of punches.”

Tyson had a knack for going after his opponents from the first bell itself. That said, he always relied on marching ahead with giant strides, thus keeping his hooks and uppercuts ready to smother his opponents.
On the other hand, Lomachenko is one tactical fighter. He is also one of the smartest technicians who enjoys decoding his adversary’s style and then coming up with curated offense and defense.

Until now, ‘Loma’ has witnessed some cracking success with this approach and he’ll only look to bring the same in his fight against Richard Commey on Saturday night.

‘Loma’ is one genuine great of the lightweight division and he’s proved his mettle countless times until now. With a 15-2 record, Lomachenko might not seem strong on paper against Commey, who holds a 30-3 record.

However, when it comes to fighting IQ, power, ability to take the fight deep, and defense, ‘Loma’ has an undeniable edge over Commey.
This fight has every ingredient to stand tall on expectations and entertain the fans to a great extent. It’ll be interesting to see if Lomachenko really proves his class against a stout adversary in Richard Commey.
