Five division title holder Floyd Mayweather has faced umpteen world champions on his way to glory. Starting from Canelo Alvarez to Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton, ‘Money Mayweather’ has beaten them all and might have secured the best resume in all of boxing.
However, there’s one fight that he was sceptical to accept. Although he took it and departed with a big win, Mayweather’s long-time manager J. Prince recalls how he hesitated to embrace the challenge primarily.
While Mayweather has always intimidated his opponents, it was Diego Coralles who touted himself as a perfect antidote for a young ‘Pretty Boy’. At the time, people believed Coralles could vanquish Floyd Mayweather until the two clashed in 2001 and Mayweather claimed the win via TKO.

Meanwhile, a young Mayweather lacked confidence before finalizing the fight and constantly denied Prnice from accepting the offer.
J. Prince connected with Joe Rogan to shed light on several aspects of his relationship with Floyd Mayweather. He revealed how he convinced the pugilist to accept the fight against Corrales.
While ‘Chico’ Corrales was facing a hard time for his domestic violence, Prince wanted to settle the fight between him and Mayweather. He located a great agenda to sell the fight and instantly discussed it with Mayweather.
Prince said, “I said Floyd, I said it’s a perfect time to face Diego Corrales. I said I even have a marketing tool we can whoop him for every battered women in the United States of America. So he (Mayweather) heard me out, but he wasn’t embracing it. ‘No, no, no, Jay, it ain’t time to do right now.”
He added, “I don’t want to say that Floyd was scared, but at time everybody thought Diego could beat Floyd. He was like 30-0 with 29 KOs.”
