Shakur Stevenson’s journey from “Fearless” to “Sugar”
In a recent interview with FightHype, Stevenson weighed in on the recent fight between Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford, training with Floyd Mayweather Jr., and also his nickname. The interviewer was impressed by his nickname and jokingly asked the boxer to make “Triple SSS,” a trademark. In response, he revealed that his nickname, “Sugar,” simply resonated well with his personality. In addition, he expressed that he likes the sound of it as well.
He stated, “It gotta be something like when it gotta come to me the right way. Like when it comes to the right way and you feel it, that’s when it is gonna happen so. That sound cool though, I like it.”
It would be safe to say that Stevenson is an individual who goes by instinct rather than anything else. The Featherweight boxer made his Lightweight debut in April and is eyeing another Lightweight title fight against Devin Haney.
