The pursuit of getting Canelo Alvarez in the ring is ceaseless. Demetrius Andrade has been relentless in the pursuit of a chance to have a bout with the Mexican native. Ever since the little spat that happened at the press conference after the Canelo vs. Saunders spar at the AT&T stadium in Texas. This rivalry has simmered since what we can assume, is a humiliating moment, with Andrade ever relentless, making every possible attempt to make the fight happen.

Demetrius Andrade and his Unrelenting Pursuit

Since that heated exchange, Andrade has been on a mission to fight Canelo, recently going on the record to state that Canelo has been avoiding him, because he knows he can defeat him. But it seems like Canelo isn’t giving him the time of day. He has been doing anything in his power to rile up the Mexican native, and most importantly, stay relevant.

It is noteworthy to mention, that even though Andrade has not had any bouts with remarkable names in recent years, he has held multiple world championships in two weight classes, and he’s eager to prove himself on the grandest stage. he’s been  doin’ everything to stay away from me,  ’54 pounds, a 164 Pounds, and now we are up to ’68 pounds and at the end of the day I am going to fight the biggest challenge — nobody else  well I’m not going to say nobody else Plant took the challenge Canelo didn’t want to take it so I’m here.” Andrade explains.

Andrade is known for his Southpaw, and multiple knockouts under his belt (19). What’s more, Andrade started his boxing journey at the age of 6, earning him the nickname, ‘BooBoo’. He went on to represent the USA at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, winning the country a gold. While ‘BooBoo’ has faced such elite competition consistently, the fight with Canelo seems to be at the back of his mind.

History of the feud

Their feud dates back to May 2021, when Andrade confronted Alvarez at the AT&T media event in Texas. Canelo, in his typical no-nonsense fashion, verbally demolished Andrade. Canelo reminded Andrade he hasn’t fought anyone in years and to “Get tf Out of here.” It was a moment that instantly went viral and became a highlighting point of their rivalry.

That could change though, because according to ESPN, Andrade and his team are currently negotiating details for a fight with the two-time WBC super Middleweight champion David Benavidez before the end of this year. This could be a career-making point for Andrade, as Benavidez has quite the laurels under his belt, being such a young boxer.
