The first patch of the new year in Black Ops Cold War has arrived, and it brings a lot of interesting changes. Ever since Treyarch introduced Season One to Cold War, this would be the first major patch it adds to the game. The patch fixes various bugs as a result of the season one update.

The January 7 patch also introduces various new playlists and modes to the game. Moreover, it provides the first preview of the mid-season update coming to the latest Call of Duty title on January 14. The multiplayer changes include Raid + Crossroads Strike 24/7, the new Gunfight Blueprints, and Dirty Bomb Duos MP modes.

The mid-season update will bring a new fireteam map ‘Sanatorium’ to the game. It will also introduce an all-new 6v6 mode ‘Dropkick’. On the Zombies end of things, the January 14 update will introduce the classic ‘Cranked’ mode.

Raid + Crossroads Strike 24/7, Gunfight Blueprints, and Dirty Bomb Duos MP in Black Ops Cold War

The new playlist features two 6v6 maps with Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Hardpoint modes. Moreover, it also includes Hardcore Raid + Crossroads Strike 24/7 which is also available in the Quick Play menu.

Black Ops Cold War also introduced an interesting variant to the Gunfight mode. The Gunfight Bluprints mode is a 2v2 mode with random weapon loadouts “featuring a collection of badass Weapon Blueprints.”

Along with this, Treyarch has also added a duo mode to the Fireteam: Dirty Bomb game mode. In the duo mode, 10 teams of two will drop into the usual dirty bomb routine with only one duo emerging victorious.

The patch also fixes various bugs in Black Ops Cold War, ranging from the ones in daily challenges to the much-needed mini-map visibility fix for the H.A.R.P. in Hardcore. Moreover, the patch also fixes bugs in the Zombies mode, which made the game unstable. After the patch, players are expected to experience lesser crashes.

Overall, it is a decent patch adding new content to the game while also fixing various bugs. It was also very essential to stabilize the game before the mid-season update brings major changes to the game.
