Call of Duty released the much-awaited first look of the Zombies mode for their latest game Black Ops Cold War. Activision had included the Zombies mode for the first time in Call of Duty World at War. Since then, it has attracted many fans.
Fans rejoiced when Activision announced that Treyarch will bring a Zombies mode for Black Ops Cold War as well. Since then, they have been waiting for the developers to announce more details about the characters, storyline, and the trailer.
Well, that day has finally arrived. Activision has revealed the gameplay and story trailer for Cold War Zombies, along with a detailed blog post on the game mode.
The video starts with John Rafacz, Director of Communication at Treyarch, describing the journey of Zombies until now. Talking about the new game, he said, “Black Ops Cold War sets the stage for a new Zombies experience that not only celebrates our entire Zombies experience but uses it as an inspiration to build a completely new chapter in our universe.”
The blog post published by Activision states that the mode is starting afresh, with a new narrative. The new narrative also includes new characters. Additionally, the mode includes new ways to progress, classic fan-favorite Perks, and an arsenal of Cold War weaponry that will help survivors dominate the legions of undead.
The new story follows the dynamic of Requiem, a CIA-backed international response team, and Omega Group, their Soviet counterparts. Both organizations aim to discover deeply buried secrets from the World War II.
Among all the characters is one particular contact, Sam, who seems eager to share intel discovered from deep within the KGB. Bolstered by various pieces of intel that players can track in-game, this incredible Zombies story will start to unfold mysteries in unexpected ways.
Storyline and new characters aren’t the only novel features of Cold War Zombies. For the first time, a Zombies mode in Call of Duty will feature crossplay, which will allow players across platforms to team up together. It will also work across various versions of the same console.
Additionally, for the first time, the Zombies mode will contribute to the Battle Pass progression of the game. Moreover, players can also use their pre-made gunsmith loadouts in the game mode.
Along with these features, the developers have added weapon rarity to make sure players have a chance to find stronger weapons that are sustainable for later rounds. They will also have an opportunity to find lethal equipment, like frags, across the map.
In a first, Treyarch has also removed the limit on perks that come along with the Zombies mode. This calls for intense and interesting gameplay that would last longer than the usual.
Finally, the developers have added another feature called ‘Exfil’. If the whole squad is in trouble, players can opt to exfiltrate the undead combat zone via helicopter. Although zombie spawns will be dialed up to 11, they should expect to earn some rewards if the squad completes this final push to survive.
The mode will launch along with the final version of the game on November 13. However, players will be able to access open and crossplay betas in the second week of October.
