It takes a village to raise a child, but it takes one exceptional coach to train a world champion. Saul Canelo Alvarez has been training under the guidance of his coach, Eddy Reynoso, for quite some time now. However, it was Reynoso’s father, Don Chepo, who set Canelo on the path to becoming a world champion boxer. Nevertheless, Reynoso has continued their great work as Canelo archived numerous accolades in his highly decorated career.

Recently, Reynoso was awarded the National Sports Award for the best coach, and Canelo turned to Instagram to pen a message to him. While congratulating his coach, Canelo shared a couple of pictures of them alongside a heartfelt message. Canelo wrote, “National Sport Award for the best coach. Proud of you always, apá @caneloteam, Congratulations! With you from the beginning and with you till the end.” As the boxing community came across the post, they were left in awe of the continued partnership between them.

The 70-year-old veteran boxing trainer played a significant role in Canelo’s rise to boxing dominance. Canelo began his boxing journey at the age of 14 in a run-of-mill neighborhood of Guadalajara in Chepo’s gym.
