The stage is set, and the fighters are ready. There is no going back anymore! Rolly Romero will take on Isaac Cruz in an all-Mexican slugfest! The fight will mark Amazon Prime Video’s first-ever live boxing broadcast. However, why the change in streaming partner? Rolly Romero blames “cheap broke motherf**ers” on DAZN.

Not long ago, the WBA super lightweight champion was supposed to take on Ryan Garcia! However, after a massive U-Turn, Romero ditched Garcia for a March 30 fight against Cruz. And now that he is on the verge of entering the ring for the first time in 2024, he revealed a “200 million reason” regarding opting for Amazon Prime Video – instead of DAZN in an interview today.

Rolly Romero has all the numbers ready!

Speaking to Elie Seckbach from ES News, the 28-year-old boxer claimed, “DAZN has 300,000 users. Amazon Prime has 200 million. It’s marketing 101!” Romero suggests the only people on DAZN are those who are fans of the sport, “So, I am [going to] tell you like this, boxing fans ain’t gonna order the damn pay-per-view,” said Romero. What’s more, Romero doesn’t think the best of boxing fans, claiming they won’t pay for the pay-per-view.

“They are [going to] stream that shit because they are all fucking cheap broke motherf**kers,” said Romero. Instead, Romero claims he wants to target casual fans, further throwing shade at boxing fans. “We want the casuals, the people who are throwing big parties at their houses. Those are the real fans. Boxing fans, they are all f**king haters,” said Romero. While Romero explained the reason behind the change in streaming partner, someone recently warned him.

The WBO inter-continental lightweight champion is not worried

While speaking to Marcos Villegas from Fight Hub TV after the press conference for the fight held today, ‘Pitbull’ expressed his thoughts on fighting Rolly Romero. When asked about whether the height difference would present any difficulties for him, Cruz stated, “I’m not worried one bit because it’s [not] like I’m about to try to lift him up.”

Instead, Cruz has different plans for Romero. He said, “All I’m trying to do is hit him, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.” Later in the interview, Marcos questioned Cruz about how he plans to knock out Romero. In response, Cruz said, “We have worked on every single punch so that we knock him down no matter what it is.”
