Drugs and alcohol have destroyed many careers! Joseph Diaz Jr. has had his own stint with the substances that led to him losing three fights in a row. However, the former IBF junior lightweight titlist has made a comeback through his last fight against Jerry Perez in July last year. Continuing his mission to turn a new leaf in his career, the South El Monte, California native turned to X (formerly Twitter).
It’s worth mentioning that ‘Jo Jo’ Diaz was scheduled to face off against Richard Medina, but things did not go well for the southpaw. According to sources, Diaz fell seriously ill with symptoms mimicking Covid, rendering him unable to move forward for the fight. Despite all his prior struggles, the 33-4-1 fighter turned to social media with an uplifting message for 2024.

Joseph Diaz Jr., ready for 2024?
The Downey, California resident wrote, “Getting ready for whatever 2024 brings.” Joseph Diaz Jr. has just fought twice in the last year, winning one and losing the prior. Even worse was his 2022 list of opponents, which included the sole William Zepeda Segura. Diaz lost the 12-round bout at Pechanga Arena, San Diego, via a unanimous decision.
Prior to that, Diaz suffered his second career upset at the hands of Devin Haney via unanimous decision. However, Diaz has adopted a new approach for 2024 that could launch his boxing career to the top. So, when the boxing world came across the latest tweet from the 31-year-old boxer, everyone was hyped to see what was on the horizon for the former IBF junior lightweight champion.
Fan recollects being backstage during Diaz’s title fight
Diaz, who is no stranger to X, had a swarm of fans commenting and expressing their thoughts on the tweet. While some motivated the former champion, others guessed what’s next for Diaz.
One user resorted to poking fun at the southpaw, suggesting he is getting ready for prison. The user referred to Diaz’s shirtless look with several tattoos on his body.

Diaz was about to face Shavkat Rakhimov and weighed in at 133.3 lbs., well over the stipulated 130 lbs. The fight was later declared a majority decision draw.
