Gervonta Davis was asked if he is the ‘face of boxing’ and in response, he stated, “Abso-f******-lutely.” Many consider ‘Tank’ to be the face of the sport but his life outside the ring has not been as easy as his wins. In his most recent fight, he defeated superstar Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas, via a stoppage in the seventh round. He handed ‘Kingry’ his first defeat and his boxing career at that point peaked. Meanwhile, the fans were eager to see him in the ring again. Ideally, against the likes of Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson. However, little did anyone know that his next battle would be off the court.
Back in November of 2020, the Baltimore fighter was allegedly driving his Lamborghini when he drove through a red light and crashed with another car— leaving the passenger injured. In 2021, Davis was charged for 14 counts of the aforementioned ‘Hit and run’ incident. Thereafter, just over a month after his biggest win on 22 April, Davis was sentenced to house arrest for 90 days in June.
However, as per CBS News Baltimore, Davis violated the terms of house arrest after being spotted at a hotel through GPS. The violation was grave and Davis was sentenced to Baltimore City Detention Center for the remainder of his sentence. In a recent turn of events, Davis was released on Friday and the same made headlines in the boxing world. After his release, the fans were quick to speculate about his next fight. In addition, many other fans advanced some intriguing takes on the revelation.
