Francis Ngannou is about to take on the WBC Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury four days from today. In the lead up to the heavyweight clash on Saturday night, Ngannou is being seen as a major underdog. However, Mike Tyson, who joined Ngannou’s corner, has asserted that Ngannou has a fair shot at winning the upcoming clash. Moreover, the same sentiment is shared by Mike’s former trainer-turned-TV pundit Teddy Atlas

In a similar crossover boxing event, former UFC Featherweight champion Conor McGregor took on the legendary undefeated Floyd Mayweather in 2017. While that fight was extremely successful, $600 million successful, the Ngannou and Fury’s matchup is expected to be even bigger. For the same reason, many in the boxing world have labeled the event a massive cash grab. While appearing in an interview with ESPN, Teddy Atlas claims the fight isn’t just a cash grab but a dangerous one while comparing it to Floyd and Conor’s fight.

Teddy Atlas claims the Francis Ngannou vs. Tyson Fury fight will be competitive

While appearing in an interview with ESPN, Dean Thomas, the reporter, questioned Atlas about how excited he is for the upcoming Francis Ngannou vs. Tyson Fury fight. Surprisingly, Atlas mentioned the prevailing sentiment in the boxing world, where voices have suggested that the fight is a cash grab. Despite that, he claimed that Ngannou presents a threat to the WBC champion Tyson Fury.“Oh, you know, a lot of people look at it like a money grab. I think it’s a dangerous money grab, very dangerous and dangerous probably for the guy…named Tyson Fury,” said Atlas.

However, he wasn’t done! Atlas went on to compare the upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight. “It’s an event, it’s a crossover. McGregor and Mayweather like,” said Atlas. He elucidated that people initially believed the fight would be a cakewalk for Mayweather, but it proved to be much more competitive. “I said this is going to be more competitive than people think. They thought it was going to be a joke for Mayweather,” said Atlas.

Atlas wanted to give Francis Ngannou a bag of tricks

Ngannou will make his boxing debut in the coming matchup against Tyson Fury. Meanwhile, Teddy Atlas claims there is no time for training Ngannou and getting him at the same level as Fury. He acknowledged that Ngannou is a ferocious puncher but also claimed he needs to learn how to deliver shots. It will help him deliver the winning blow and knock out Tyson Fury.

While appearing in an interview with ESPN MMA, Atlas stated, “His only chance is to land a big punch.” Atlas explained that it doesn’t matter how hard Ngannou can punch; if he can’t deliver, he is not going to win. “I don’t care if he punches like freaking Godzilla. It doesn’t matter unless he has a delivery system,” Atlas said. So, Atlas suggested Ngannou should learn fundamentals and tricks to land the game-ending punch.
