Sportsmanship and integrity are everything for a boxer! Despite that, not all who practice this sweet science live up to its values. In a recent social media post, the retired undisputed heavyweight champion, Lennox Lewis, highlighted the same issue. However, things got uglier when the boxing world discovered the post today.
As it turns out, ‘The Lion’ Lewis turned to Instagram, sharing a clip from a boxing match between two lesser-known boxers. While the men in the ring might not be very popular, their actions blew up when Lewis shared the clip with his followers. Get this – one of the fighters swung at his opponent after the bell rang but missed him completely. However, what happened next is both amusing and sad.

Lennox Lewis fumes discontent
Punching the opponent after the round has ended comes with dire consequences. At best, a point deduction and, at the worst, disqualification. Yet, that did not stop the guy from taking a shot at his opponent. After the illegal blow had missed the other boxer, the boxer on the receiving end saw his opportunity and took a dive, pretending to have gotten hit. The whole incident managed to get a laugh out of the audience and the commentators present during the fight. However, that wasn’t the case for Lennox Lewis, who shared the clip with a harshly worded message on Instagram.

“Now they’re flopping in boxing? Wouldn’t want to win either way with these two. Bad sportsmanship on the part of the first guy and bad advice from the team of the second guy! Fortunately, neither were successful,” wrote Lewis. What’s more, the responses to the post were harsher!
Fan thought it was a football match
As soon as the clip saw the light of day, it started getting a rise from boxing fans, who did not hold back from criticizing both fighters. While some describe their discontent, others poked fun at the entire situation. One user was disgusted by the unsportsmanlike behavior of either fighter, claiming it was embarrassing to watch. The user wrote, “Embarrassing from both fighters!”

Another user sarcastically compared the fighter faking injury to football, where this kind of thing is typical – allegedly. “Thought I was watching premiership football for a minute,” commented the user.
Even the next user echoed the same sentiment. However, he was a lot more harsh, calling for fines to be levied against both fighters. “Both should get fines, no place for that in boxing. This is not the Premiere League,” the user remarked.

Someone else questioned why would anyone want to win in this manner, condemning the fight. “Who would even want to win in this way? Sickening to watch,” wrote the user.

The next user resorted to sarcasm, claiming he could feel the power behind the missed punch. The user commented, “Wow, I felt the power of that shot through my phone!”
