What do fans have to say about the comparison shared by Devin Haney?
While Haney is an undefeated champion who won the WBC lightweight title in 2019, Alvarez has championships across four weight classes. These include WBA, WBC, and The Ring super middleweight titles. Terence Crawford, on the other hand, has achieved success in three weight divisions. Moreover, his titles include lightweight, welterweight, and light welterweight.
While Haney emerged victorious in his last bout against Ukrainian boxer Vasiliy Lomachenko, Canelo Alvarez is all set to fight Jermell Charlo on the 30th of September. Terence Crawford has also been a prominent presence in headlines after his legendary win against Errol Spence Jr. All their fights have gained the intrigue of fans. It’s no wonder why these fights turned out to be very lucrative ones.

Whereas Haney’s estimated purse was around $2.8 million, plus 30% of PPV shares from his last bout, Bud’s earnings crossed $10 million with PPV sales. On the other hand, Alvarez’s last bout with John Ryder gave him potential earnings of up to $40 million with PPV sales. No wonder these comparisons are prevalent. With ‘The Dream’ reposting it on his story, he too draws parallels with these stars. However, fans look divided as they’ve alternative views.
Dj Speed starts the conversation by asserting, “Tank is making more than all 3; stop disrespecting his name.” Then, Edgar V. chimed in, saying, “Canelo & Crawford the only guys wanting all the smoke. Haney not so much.” Building on this, shifting the focus to another fighter, Rupert Clark adds, “Inoue fights everyone but just because he fights at a lower weight class he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.”

In response to the earlier comment about Haney, Kevin Broadnoax argues, “Nope…people wanted Haney and Shakur. He low balled him pause and bounced.” Daeomon then brings the discussion back to Canelo, stating, “I’m on Canelo’s head till he fights David Benavidez. Crawford solid. Devin needs to fight Shakur or Tank. Crawford the only dude who ain’t scared of nobody.”
