Talented Japanese Bantamweight Kazuki Anaguchi sadly passed on yesterday, Friday evening. The update comes after the late boxer suffered a brain injury during his last fight on 26 December last year. Today, a clip of the incident surfaced online, showcasing the incident during the fight that eventually ended the 23-year-old’s life.

Anaguchi took on fellow countryman Seiya Tsutsumi in the undercard of the Naoya Inoue vs. Marlon Tapales undisputed junior featherweight championship fight. Aired by ESPN+/Lemino at Ariake Arena, Koto-Ku, Japan, Anaguchi lost the fight via unanimous decision. Meanwhile, after his passing, the clip shared on social media shows the horrific moments after the injury.

A brave clash ends with tragedy for Kazuki Anaguchi

Turning to X, a user shared the clip of the incident with a caption reading, “HE DIED! Kazuki Anaguchi fought bravely against Seiya Tsutsumi for those who do not remember or witnessed it.” On the other hand, the clip showed Anaguchi, moments after the bell rang, unable to stand with his legs twitching. 

As for the fight itself, Anaguchi was active throughout the fight, even outboxing and outpointing his opponent in several rounds. However, his opponent, Tsutsumi, scored knockdowns in the fourth, seventh, ninth, and tenth rounds, edging the victory. What’s more, Boxing Scene reported that the bantamweight was immediately given medical attention and taken to a nearby hospital.

The unfortunate aftermath of the fight

Anaguchi and Tsutsumi fought for the Japanese bantamweight title! Though Tsutsumi won the fight, he will remember it for a different reason. Immediately after the finishing bell rang, Anaguchi was treated for the gruesome cut over his left eye and taken to a nearby hospital. However, before he could be taken to his assigned room in the hospital, Tsutsumi had lost consciousness.

According to the report from Boxing Scene, the doctors conducted an emergency craniotomy to remove a subdural hematoma on the right side of his brain. Moreover, the Osaka-based boxer fighter got involved in the sport at the tender age of six and managed to build up an impressive amateur career with a 68-8 record. The fight against Tsutsumi was his first 10-round fight for the regional title, but sadly, he left behind a potentially bright career and a one-year-old daughter.

After the tragic news of his passing came out on Friday, the clip shared on X showcased the gruesome aftermath of his fight on December 26. Even though all the necessary steps were taken to prevent the unfortunate incident, Kazuki Anaguchi lost the final battle of his life.
