The NBA has seen its viewership numbers sky-rocket in recent years, which has led to more money being invested in the league. According to Forbes, all 30 teams in the NBA combined have generated almost $10 billion dollars in revenue in the 2021-22 season. Post pandemic, the league has achieved 57% growth in revenues.

Growth in revenue has led to massive payouts for star athletes in the league. Player agents have become a key part of the thriving NBA ecosystem and Rich Paul has established himself as one of the foremost dealmakers in the NBA. But despite making deals worth over $4 billion dollars, the super agent cannot afford uber luxury.

Paul has also expanded his influence in the NFL with players like Jalen Hurts, Chase Young and Miles Garrett signed to his agency. During his illustrious career, Paul has brokered deals worth over $4 billion dollars. LeBron alone has profited $400 million dollars from his partnership with Paul.

But in a recent interview, Paul opened up about affordability and players flexing their money at the Invest Fest. He said, “No athlete can afford to fly private all the time. Yet we see so many athletes on the Instagram fly private. I fly Delta, I cannot afford to fly private and that’s okay with me.” He added further, “I am just trying to get where I am trying to go to get the money. I am not trying to spend the money and the times I do fly private, you will never see on Instagram because it is not for show”.
