The Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the newly formed Phoenix Suns squad. And while the two teams are giving fans all sorts of highlights, Suns’ Nasir Little was caught on a move that the referees had missed during the playoffs last year. And now, the Lakers team almost fell victim to what went unnoticed during their matchup with the Denver Nuggets in these last playoffs.
Aaron Gordon had once touched or grabbed onto the rim while finishing up a lob from his teammate. Though an illegal move, it went unnoticed back then. But not this time as Nasir Little was called on the violation.

Nasir Little following in Aaron Gordon’s footsteps
Phoenix Suns’ guard Nasir Little had the assignment to guard LeBron James on a fastbreak by the Lakers. An eager Little did his best to stop James and also tried to block his shot as well.

In the process of trying to block LeBron James, Nasir Little ended up hitting the rim which was caught by the referees. And it was eventually called for a violation, leading the ball back for the Lakers to inbound.

It was almost similar to what Aaron Gordon had done back in their last matchup in the playoffs against the Lakers. Unfortunately for the Lakers, that move by Gordon was not called as a violation by the refs which only added to the momentum of the Nuggets, and eventually their series victory.

But luckily for Los Angeles, the overzealous defense by Nasir Little which caused the rim to stutter a bit and James missing his shot, did not go overlooked.

A short-handed Suns team
The Phoenix Suns are one of the hottest teams in the NBA and not just the Western Conference. However, the Suns are not at full power as two out of their three star players did not suit up for the game against Los Angeles.

As head coach Frank Vogel had mentioned in an interview earlier, both Devin Booker and Bradley Beal have been limited by him for the next few games. And rightly so, given there is no point in risking an aggravated injury for a few regular season games. That too right at the start of the season.
So, let’s see if Kevin Durant manages to take down the Lakers by himself in their first matchup of the season.
