The atmosphere within the Toronto Raptors is far from cheerful and vibrant. Throughout the entire season, they have actively sought trade offers for Pascal Siakam. This has persistently caused unrest within the team and hindered the development of a cohesive culture. Adding to the turmoil, the unexpected trade involving OG Anunoby sent shockwaves through the NBA. It also created tension among teammates, as Scottie Barnes expressed his disappointment over the decision.

As the team embarks on a journey with new faces and strategies for the season, another player has now openly shown dissatisfaction with the team’s current state.

Dennis Schroder is unhappy in his new role

Dennis Schroder has not been entirely thrilled with the Raptors’ decision to bring him off the bench. Upon signing a 2-year, $25,430,250  contract with the Toronto Raptors, Schroder was expecting to lead his team. So, when his role was altered after the Immanuel Quickley trade, he voiced his discontent.

However, the decision might benefit the team . Schroder has experience as both a starter and a bench player in the NBA. He has led the charge for the Atlanta Hawks and with the Lakers during his initial stint. Furthermore, he has also helped teams thrive while playing a smaller role.

In the last four games, Schroder, coming off the bench, maintains a consistent level of production. He is averaging 14.8 points and contributing 5 assists. Notably, there’s minimal deviation in his performance. Impressively, his shooting touch is showing remarkable efficiency, with an over 10% influx to 56.4% from the field.

Schroder might get what he wants

Fresh off a victorious stint in the FIBA World Cup 2023, Dennis Schroder led his German team to gold, triumphing over some of the world’s top teams. His recent achievement gives Schroder a tangible advantage in terms of his leadership capabilities for any team.

Adding to the dynamics, Schroder shares a history with Raptors Coach Darko Rajakovic from their time with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite Schroder expressing discontent, both his attitude towards the team and the coach’s decisions are being embraced with satisfaction. Schroder has conveyed that Darko is actively assessing his desires and is committed to making decisions that mutually benefit the team and the point guard.

Despite not being in the starting lineup, Schroder consistently finds himself in Toronto’s closing lineups. With his production remaining nearly identical, his minutes have seen minimal variation.
