NBA icon Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most well-known sporting personalities of all time. Furthermore, Big Diesel takes a heavy interest in other sports too. Basketball might be one of the most intense and physical sports but when it comes to pure brutality and violence, boxing takes the prize. And there is no name more synonymous with boxing over the past decade than that of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Recently, a resurfaced clip of the legendary boxer came to light, which impressed the 4x NBA Champion as well.
Boxing is one of the toughest careers to take. It’s not just difficult to win, but it takes a lot of willpower to even step inside a ring. However, Mayweather finished his career undefeated which spanned over two decades.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. never backed down
As previously mentioned, Floyd Mayweather Jr’s name is synonymous with boxing. He won all fifty fights, including 27 by KO, that he took part in a record no one in the world boasts. His career serves as an inspiration to many up-and-coming boxers. There’s an old clip of Mayweather Jr. talking trash to his opponent and then piecing him up in the fight that has been doing the rounds lately.

In the clip, Mayweather says, “I’mma crush him. I’m gonna step on him. Mark my words, I’mma crush him.” Floyd was talking about Arturo Gatti ahead of their fight for the WBC Super Lightweight Championship back in 2006. He further mentioned, “It’s thunder vs lightning. We all know thunder makes noise but lightning strikes.”

Floyd did exactly what he said. Pretty Boy dominated all six rounds, having landed 168 punches to Gatti’s 41. Mayweather won on technical knockout after Gatti’s trainer stopped the fight following the sixth round. The clip was shared with the caption, “There were two types of Floyd Mayweather: ‘Money Man’ & ‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd.”

Shaq was taken aback by the boxer’s vigor and intent to cause damage to his opponent as he shared the clip on his Instagram Stories. The clip probably reminded Shaq of his glory days when he used to bully his opponents and broke backboards.

Shaquille O’Neal was also impressed by Floyd Mayweather Jr’s brain games
Floyd was not only a master at boxing, but he also used to get himself involved in psychological warfare. Shaq earlier shared a clip of Floyd where he was spotted talking to the commentators and his fighters mid-fight.
It’s rather amusing how big of an expert Mayweather Jr. is. It won’t be a long shot to say he perfected the art of boxing and it has earned him millions of fans worldwide, including the fun-loving former NBA star.
