“Bud and the Truth”: Terence Crawford and Errol Spencer’s Overwhelming Exchange Finds a Fan in NBA Legend Allen Iverson

Terence Crawford sparred with Errol Spence Jr. in Las Vegas on July 29. Terence Bud Crawford emerged as the no.1 boxer with his dominant victory. But it was the true sportsmanship that these two titans displayed that elevated them in all of sports. Showtime released the clip of what Crawford told Spence after their match a couple of days later. The very brief clip virtually brought everyone to their feet to applaud the boxers. Including The Answer, Allen Iverson.

Several famous athletes were among the fans who acknowledged this amazing spirit. One of them is the former Philadelphia 76ers guard, a Hall of Famer who once bruised the ego of Michael Jordan. Nonetheless, Iverson has never made a secret of his admiration for fellow athletes.

Allen Iverson is in awe of Bud and The Truth

On July 29, 2023, the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas was the venue of a spectacular matchup. The combatants in the ring were Terence Bud Crawford and Errol The Truth Spence Jr. Crawford became the undisputed welterweight champion in the biggest match of his career. The highlight came after the match when an interaction between the opponents left everyone in awe.

Some people like Boston Celtics icon, Paul Pierce (who shares the nickname ‘The Truth’ with Errol Spence) ribbed Spence for losing the title, but another NBA star had a different opinion.

Allen Iverson shared the now-viral interaction on his Instagram with a brief but loud caption. “AUTHENTIC LIFE…..BUD AND THE TRUTH.” 

In the clip, a worn-out Crawford told the equally exhausted Spence, “Because if it wasn’t for you, this would have never happened. So I appreciate you. You a hell of a fighter; you already know that I got to tell you that I appreciate this opportunity.” 

Even the lead-up to the bout lacked any pre-fight drama. So these two boxers proved they’re great without any of the trash talk. They’ve got everyone praising the class they’ve shown.

Notably, the comments under his post are also lauding Iverson for staying “real” and giving respect to other athletes. Despite his spirit, he has notably gotten himself on the wrong side of one Michael Jordan.

The Answer crossed up His Airness

Basketball fans recall the biggest moments of Allen Iverson’s career. The 11-time All-Star could make many legends embarrassingly trip over their feet with his signature crossover move. He was at Michael Rubin’s Summer Players Party where he recalled that Michael Jordan is still mad at the former 76ers star for embarrassing him over two decades ago.

But Iverson maintains Jordan is his lifelong idol. And he also showed his admiration for another legend in the funniest way. He blamed his lack of NBA championship rings on the existence of Shaq in a well-meaning compliment.
