Charles Barkley and football have a twisted relationship. Having previously called football players “idiots”, Barkley does in fact, enjoy watching the sport. Especially when it is his hometown Alabama playing. Recently, an Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe merited a mention from Barkley as he praised the 20-year-old during a recent conversation.
Sir Charles applauding a youngster who plays for Alabama might be a very special feeling for Milroe. Let’s have a look at what Barkley has said about the quarterback, including some of his previous comments.

Charles Barkley showers praise on Jalen Milroe
Barkley is a very outspoken individual, who likes to call it how he sees it. So for him to talk so highly of Milroe, you’d best believe it’s coming from a very good place. During a recent conversation with The Next Round, Barkley said that he is extremely fond of the youngster. What caught his attention is the fact that Milroe is not easily disheartened by minor setbacks. He said that despite being benched, Milroe was seen jumping around, rooting for the other quarterbacks. As per Barkley, this shows immense character in the 20-year-old and he believes that with such a sense of security, Milroe is destined for bigger things.

While the praise alone is enough, Barkley said that he wishes to meet his parents. He said, “I want to tell his mom and dad what a good young man they raised.” To make things a little more emotional, he said that he is “really proud of that young guy.” The NBA veteran hasn’t met the quarterback yet, so he said that he would like to meet him and commend him for his sportsman spirit at such a young age. Barkley also shed light on the adversity in Milroe’s career.

He said, “Nobody in Alabama wanted him to be the quarterback”, showing that despite the disappointment, he has managed to keep a positive outlook on things.

Charles Barkley wants to pay respect to Jalen Milroe’s parents
People who follow Chuck, know that there are only a few professions that he respects. People in service are surely on that short list and Milroe’s parents happen to be in service. He said that he wanted to meet them, because to have raised such a bright kid, despite their own commitment to their profession, is a remarkable achievement.

He said, “I admire teachers, anybody who’s in the service”. The Alabaman seems to be impressed with not just Milroe but also his parents, and seeing the growth of that youngster, it’s all very well deserved.
