Charles Barkley was courtside watching his old team defeat LeBron James’ son, yet his mind was in the gridiron. Chuck is still reeling from the snub to the Florida State football team. So much so that he brought it up in his ESPN interview during the Auburn-USC game. He asked Jay Williams and Roxy Bernstein about the Florida State University game during his interview and smoothly inserted his opinion.
“Florida State should’ve made it,” Chuck started his rant before expressing why he thinks the Seminoles were left out of the College Football Playoffs. “This is my problem with the whole thing as a player – they penalize them as they lost their starter. I said, ‘Wait a minute, you showed total disrespect to the backups.'” The 1993 NBA MVP further added, “Winning with backups should’ve gave you brownie points. Not penalize you.”

He was even more frustrated that the value of an entire sports team is attached to the most marketable stars. “We got to play sports now where all that matters is if you’re using your starters. I don’t want to be in that world.”
Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama were selected to College Football Playoffs snubbing the undefeated favorites, Florida State. Despite losing their quarterback Jordan Travis to a season-ending injury, they are the first unbeaten Power Five Conference champion and going 13-0. They continued to win with the backup, Tate Rodemaker, and third-string quarterback, Brock Glenn.

The committee picks the four schools based on what they have heading into the playoffs. Apparently FSU without Travis didn’t look the same to them. This has created controversy, which was further stirred by Charles Barkley.

Charles Barkley wants to talk Seminoles
Oracle Barkley was the one who was sure CFP would give Florida State the short end of the stick for losing their star quarterback.
Many laughed at him then until it came true. Barkley though has not savored this ‘I told you so’ moment. After his alma mater, Chuck is a fan of Nick Saban and Alabama. But he still believes FSU deserved to be in the playoffs so much, he brings it up everywhere.

When his Phoenix Suns lost to the Lakers, he made an Alabama and Florida State comparison to allege preferential treatment. This snub to the Seminoles will haunt Barkley and football fans. He’s going to bring it up whenever he can for a long time.
