Dwight Howard shocked the basketball world by signing with Strong Group, a Philippines-based basketball team. As the team is gearing up to compete in a mini tournament held later this month, the Orlando Magic legend wants to grow close to the people and culture of the Philippines. After recently announcing that he would be meeting his fans in the Philippines on January 6, Howard is now looking forward to enjoying some Jollibee.

Howard recently posted on his Twitter, “That Jolibees gone hit 🔥” along with the Philippines flag to show that he is looking forward to enjoying his time in the new country. The 8x All-Star has asked his fans what he should do and where he should go when he gets to the Philippines. But it looks like Dwight Howard already has his first destination planned out.

Specializing in making crispy fried chicken, Jollibee now has a market cap of $5.15 billion while also being the biggest fast-food restaurant chain in the Philippines. Its market share in the Philippines is greater than all other fast-food chains combined in the country.

As Howard was looking to make his return to the NBA, his signing with Strong Group came as a surprise to everyone. The team will be playing in the upcoming Dubai International Championship, which is set to run from January 16th to 29th. With Howard struggling to find a spot back on an NBA roster, this would be a good opportunity to show that he still has more left in the tank.

Dwight Howard worked out with NBA stars earlier in the season

As hopes of an NBA comeback were getting more prominent, Howard was seen working out with NBA superstars Chris Paul and Draymond Green. This started talk of the Golden State Warriors having their eyes on the 3x Defensive Player of the Year.

The Warriors had moved on from James Wiseman, and Howard would have been an ideal player to fit in that role. But the Warriors eventually decided not to continue their pursuit for a replacement, and Dwight Howard was not picked up.

The two weeks that Howard gets to work with his new team will essentially decide his chances of making a comeback to the NBA. But with the skill that Howard possesses, it won’t be surprising to see him drop over 30 points, just like he did in his debut in Taiwan.
