It is hard to go through life without listening to ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You‘ by Mariah Carey during the holiday season. Yet, when put under the spotlight, both Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith failed to sing along to this. Although Shaq was not perfect with his lyrics, he shocked everyone with his performances. Giving some high notes along the way, the Los Angeles Lakers icon showed his Christmas song knowledge.
As it was the last episode of the year, the duo recently tried to finish some iconic Christmas songs during their Inside the NBA show. NBA on TNT posted the video on Instagram and captioned it, “Can Shaq and Kenny finish these Christmas lyrics? 🎄🎤🎶“

It started off with the easiest one, with Mariah Carey. However, both Shaq and Kenny failed miserably. Although Carey is said to have made around 60 million dollars from her iconic hit song, the NBA duo still had no idea how the song went. Even when the song is now synonymous with Christmas and remains a part of history while also earning Carey around 2.5 million dollars every year, it was surprising to know that Shaq had no idea how the song went.
After the first line, instead of singing, ‘There is just one thing I need; I don’t care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree’, the 4x champion sang, “I just want you all for Christmas. Cause a Christmas is a Christmas.“

After this failed attempt, they moved on to ‘Jingle Bells’. But this time, both Shaq and Smith were able to sing along and get the next line correct (however, Shaq did mess up after that). However, both of them struggled yet again when it went to Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’.
But what shocked the fans even more was witnessing Shaq give a perfect rendition of a Spanish song. Shaq decided to surprise everyone by singing along to José Feliciano’s ‘Feliz Navidad’. Finally, the duo ended it by singing ‘Santa Claus is coming to town” perfectly.
