If there’s an underdog story to tell, Shaquille O’Neal will make sure of it. He’s now making sure one Team USA champion is getting her due credit on the world stage. He highlighted the redemption arc of track and field’s newest queen with one exciting clip he shared on Instagram. Now his 32 million Instagram followers are reacting to the jaw-dropping plot twist of the 100 m world that Sha’Carri Richardson is.
At one point, Sha’Carri Richardson was nowhere considered a contender. She bounced back, proved her naysayers wrong, and defeated her biggest rival. Now Shaq and her fans were demanding she get dets the applause she deserves.

Shaq is in awe of Sha’Carri Richardson’s turnaround
In case you forgot that US track and field’s reigning superstar, Sha’Carri Richardson worked her way up, Shaquille O’Neal is here with a reminder. The NBA legend who is known to uplift other athletes shared a clip on his Instagram Stories that narrated Richardson’s path to success in under a minute.
The Reel from the original post showed the 2021 Prefontaine Classic in 2021. Three of the Jamaican sprinters who won gold at the Tokyo Olympics were the strongest contenders. It was reigning world champion Elaine Thompson-Herah who took the win.
Richardson finished dead-last but became memorable for her post-race interview. She was not disheartened, she congratulated the winners, and then declared, “This is one race. I’m not done. You know what I’m capable of… I’m here to stay, I’m not done.” She made a career-defining promise at the end with, “They’re not done seeing me yet, period.”

The same video cut to the 2023 World Athletics Championships. Richardson set the record of 10.65 at the 100m event in Budapest. More people noticed and reacted after Shaq shared this Reel. Their reactions are worth taking note.

Richardson is truly not done
A week after setting the championship record at Budapest, Richardson is at Zurich Diamond League 2023. And she’s holding true to her word. She recorded a perfect 10.88 to establish herself as the new star of 100m.
Her biggest rival and the faster woman alive, Elaine Thompson-Herah has not been in top form this year. The Jamaican finished third behind Richardson this time. Her fellow Jamaican, Natasha Morrison finished second.

Since her 2021 loss, Richardson was subjected to unfair criticism. Her fashion and outspoken style were also dragged into social media slander. With her current gold-winning streak, she’s proving to be an indomitable force. And at least Big Aristotle is on her side.
