Tony Khan barely misses out on his chance to sign a hot potential act for the company. Despite having a loaded roster, Khan never seems satisfied with the pieces he has in his arsenal. So who could be the next on board the Jacksonville-based company? Well, if we look at the active rumor mills, the answer is clear, it’s seemingly a potential AEW debut for Mercedes Mone.

Did Tony Khan just drop a vague tease on Mercedes Mone’s rumored AEW debut?

WWE lost Mercedes Mone and Naomi when they walked out of the company in May 2022. Since then, Naomi made her return to WWE during the 2024 Royal Rumble PLE while undergoing a successful stint in TNA. Sasha Banks, on the other hand, has not returned. Speculation suggested that she would make a return to her old wrestling home. However, Khan wasn’t going to idly sit by and a recent announcement might indicate good news for AEW fans.

Ever since reports revealed that her talk with WWE has not been fruitful, the notion of a return to the Stamford-based promotion appeared thin. With this, Khan quite obviously made himself proactive in playing on the odds.

Now, it seems more of an obvious deal as Khan came up with the tease of a big announcement tonight ahead of a star-studded Collision. And chances are that Mone’s foray into the company will be made official. Now, it will be interesting to see if the former WWE star ends up being All Elite.

However, moving ahead, despite Khan’s desperate knack to lure talents to his roster, it seems there is a clear plan to push forward the women’s division of AEW.

Khan shows signs of thorough planning with recruits for the women’s division

Tony Khan looked to shore up his women’s rose with quality additions after Deonna Purrazzo’s latest signing. The topic of how she has been utilized has already attracted scrutiny within just a few weeks of her first match. Nevertheless, Khan won’t let go of an opportunity to pour his money onto the marquee ex-WWE talent for the upliftment of the women’s division. Unlike Purrazzo, who lacks the star power and charisma of Banks, the AEW head honcho can rest assured of those qualities with the former WWE star.

During a past interview with Rasslin on Barstool Sports, Khan noted there are several qualities he considers before taking someone on his jam-packed roster. The first and foremost one of these is the utter professionalism.

So, in that angle, Mone will ride on the high chance of clearing Khan’s cut-off mark. Her illustrated WWE career and decent NPJW career speak loudly of her professionalism.
