Chris Jericho received a prestigious honor from Winnipeg’s mayor

Winnipeg is a city in Canada and hearing its name, what comes first in a wrestling fan’s mind is Chris Jericho. And why wouldn’t it? WWE fans will recall Jericho once proudly yelled at the peak of his voice, I’m from Winnipeg, you idiot,” during a match at Survivor Series in 2009 after a fan told him to go back to Toronto.

Now, 14 years later, Jericho stands proudly receiving honor from his city’s mayor, Scott Gillingham. He honored the ‘Lionheart’ by naming Y2J’s childhood street in west Winnipeg after him in a ceremony on March 15.

The Mayor said,In recognition of Chris’s accomplishments and for his consistent, constant, years of efforts of being a great ambassador for the City of Winnipeg, the Wordsworth Way between Browning Boulevard and Westwood Drive will receive an honorary street naming as Chris Jericho Way.

After receiving the prestigious honor, Jericho labeled it as the “coolest” thing that has happened to him in his long wrestling career. Over the years, he has been a part of several promotions and achieved immense success. From being in video games to having an action figure made to his likeness, he has seen it all. But the honor of having his childhood street named after him felt different to the legend.

It’s quite evident that Jericho is proud to receive this honor and this shows how significant his impact has been as a pro wrestler. Even though he may get overlooked when some of the biggest names in the business are discussed, Jericho’s legacy is enduring.

Apart from reinventing himself and proving his star power for over two decades in pro wrestling, this latest honor shows how big of a star he is.
