“Beat My A** In the Gym Daily”: Dwayne Johnson Makes A Childhood Admission About His Father Rocky Johnson

There are several occasions when Dwayne Johnson has talked about his father’s “tough-love” relationship with him. Rocky Johnson and The Rock had a strange relationship for a long time as per DJ. However, a few years later, ‘The Brahma Bull’ understood why ‘The Soulman’ displayed tough love to him. Recently, Johnson once again talked about the same while describing an old picture of him and his father.

Even though there were some barriers in their relationship for some time, The Soulman loved his son. Subsequently, the Jumanji actor also takes to his social media numerous times to share the teachings of his father and recently sheds light on the same.

The Soulman was one of the popular pro wrestlers back in his heyday and The Rock was his number-one fan. On several occasions, ‘Dewey’ worked out with his father, be it in the gym or somewhere else.

Recently a Twitter user shared an old photo of Rocky Johnson and The Rock having a boxing sparring session. DJ re-tweeted the picture by describing it and sharing that even though he hated it, he appreciates it today.

The People’s Champion re-tweeted writing, “Very cool shot of me and my pops, the Soulman in Tampa. Couple stiff jabs to my buck teeth and that taught me to keep my hands up to protect 🥊 🤣”

The 51-year-old added, “My old used to beat my ass in the gym daily, boxing and on the wrestling mats. Hated it then, but appreciate it today.”

Over the years, Johnson understood his father loved him, but never showed it on every occasion. Clearly, The Rock misses his father, and the 10-time world recently on Father’s Day wished The Soulman was there with him.

The former WWE Tag Team Team Champion passed away in January 2020, at the age of 75. He got to see his son grow in the business and even make it to the top of Hollywood. Moreover, once they also shared the ring in WWE.

Throwback to when Rocky Johnson saved The Rock in WWE

Even though being against DJ’s decision of joining pro wrestling, The Soulman trained his son. Moreover, after his son’s debut as Rocky Maivia, Rocky Johnson once came to save him after the match.

The Rock defeated The Sultan aka Rikishi and after the match at WrestleMania 13. However, The Sultan, The Iron Sheik, and Bob Backlund grouped The Great One. However, The Soulman ran to the ring and saved his son, which was the time when the Johnson father-son duo shared the ring in WWE.

A few years later DJ inducted his father Rocky Johnson into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008. Surely, The Rock misses his father and keeps his memories alive like he did in the above tweet.
