John Cena is returning to WWE this week on SmackDown and will stay and travel with the promotion for two upcoming months. He is scheduled to make eight SmackDown appearances within the US and one live event, Superstar Spectacle, in India.
‘The Champ’ is a part-timer wrestler in WWE. He has already made a couple of appearances this year (WrestleMania Goes Hollywood and Money in the Bank). That said, Brian Gewitz, former head writer of WWE, pointed out that Cena’s upcoming return amid the Hollywood strike may ruin his reputation in Hollywood.

John Cena’s WWE comeback could face severe backlash in the midst of Hollywood strike
During an interview with WrestlingNewsCo, Gewitz stated he believes that amidst actors and writers fighting for fair pay, Cena’s WWE return will not look good on his part.
He said, “My mindset is, if you are an actor or performer, typically doing TV and movies, and that kind of thing, then it’s not a great look to go on WWE and be performing while the strikes are going on.”

” It’s one of those things where as people are striking and really like fighting the studios for fair pay and all other things that come with striking then it’s not the greatest look in the world to just go, ‘Alright! Good luck, guys. I am going to be performing live in the middle of the ring on Raw this Monday kind of thing,” he added.
Cena is an actor as well as a wrestler. So leaving one of his professions temporarily and jumping to another amid the ongoing SAG-AFTRA may not be a good idea. Regardless, he still believes ‘The Prototype’ is doing nothing wrong when it comes to a legal point of view.
Gewirtz claims Cena is doing no wrong
Just like Cena, Gewitz is also a part of wrestling as well as the Hollywood industry – Current SVP of Development at Seven Bucks Productions, so he has an idea of how controversial this issue can become. But also he clearly mentioned that all this is just his own point of view and what he thinks might happen.

In no way, shape, or form, he is accusing Cena of doing anything illegal by returning to WWE this week. Fans have been awaiting Cena’s return for a while now. As much as ‘The Chain Gang Soldier’ is committed to his Hollywood endeavors, he also loves his WWE family.
