WWE has given a head start to several wrestlers in the industry. While some stuck with the promotions, others went on to switch companies or even careers. Wrestlers who switched promotions can often be seen showing up in different promotions. One such wrestler is John Morrison. WWE released the former star a few years back and his fans have been catching him wrestle in different promotions.

It all started with Morrison rebooting his career in 2022. He eventually joined and showed up in AEW as well. However, Morrison had other plans for his career and decided that he wants to stay open to opportunities. But now everything appears to be changing regarding his wrestling career.

Morrison is most popularly a professional wrestler who is known for his time in WWE. The wrestler had his last WWE match on 15th November 2021 before the company released him three days later on November 18. This happened because of WWE’s budget cuts.

After being released, along with several other wrestlers, Morrison did not let this stop him. He went on an independent run and eventually found himself working for AEW.

Although the catch was that he never signed a long-term contract with the company. Morrison appeared on AEW Dynamite a few times last year. Following that, he made two more appearances in the company during the same year. Fans last saw him as Johnny Elite on June 1st, 2022. After a year now, PW Insider has reported that backstage rumors suggest Morrison’s return to the company.

Even though he hadn’t signed a contract before, sources suggest he could be all set to do so now. It’s also reported that he will be utilizing the name Johnny Television (possibly Johnny TV) for his return to AEW. Since there is no official confirmation regarding the same yet, fans should probably wait a while before celebrating.

This looks like a long way from when Morrison talked about how he was ready to leave wrestling behind.

Morrison almost retired after leaving WWE

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet in the year 2020, Morrison revealed how he had always seen his ‘final run’ being in WWE. By this, the wrestler probably implied that he wished to retire from wrestling after having a last match in WWE. In the same interview, he also revealed that Vince McMahon seemed interested when the wrestler wanted to come back to the company after a little run-down.

Additionally, he revealed that his idea of the ‘last run’ could last as long as 15 years. And however long he stays in the wrestling business, Morrison would like to end his career through a WWE match only.
