John Cena is accustoming himself to the daily life of a Hollywood megastar nowadays. The Champ continues to move forward with blockbuster films as he quietly wraps up his wrestling career. The next movie starring the 16-time World champion is the tenth installment of the $5 Billion Dollar franchise, Fast X, and will see Cena’s second outing with the Fast family.
However, Cena recently made a strange comparison between himself and Santino Marella. The former WWE superstar was heavily involved in comedic acts on WWE television programming back in the day. So why did a main event-caliber talent like Cena compare himself to Marella, that too on the lines of Fast X?

Why did John Cena compare himself to someone completely opposite to him?
John Cena reigned as the biggest attraction for Vince McMahon‘s WWE for the last decade. During the same time, Santino Marella was Cena’s fellow contemporary. While Cena reached the heights of major success, Marella found stardom for his comedian personality, in-ring talent, and ability to captivate the audience with his antics. But his fame and success were nowhere compared to Big Match John.

Despite that, it is intriguing to churn out the reason for Cena comparing himself to Santino, during a sit-down interview with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz. Cena began that he compared every experience of his life with WWE. He stated that the Fast X film was made up of seven mini-stories. This statement came on the lines of a WWE show, that follows a particular format of having different matches, segments, and advertisement breaks.
This led to Cena calling himself the comedy match, referring to his on-screen time with co-star Leo Abelo Perry.
“My purpose, my match was like the comedy match. I was like the Santino Marella. So, I really loved those moments because I got to have fun with a gifted young person, Leo was great and there is no like macho edge. It’s a 9-year-old putting me in my place.”
Cena will have a different story from his previous role in the franchise where he was largely the big bad of the movie.
John Cena will share major screen time with his 9-year-old co-star in Fast X
The Cenation Leader clearly meant that he will be part of a small sub-story that will tie in with the main storyline of Fast X. John Cena will reprise his role of Dominik Torretto’s brother, Jakob. As revealed, he will be seen sharing major screen space with Leo Abelo Perry, who plays the role of his nephew, Brian Marcos.
