Ever since the WWE announced Rey Mysterio as one of their inductees for this year’s Hall of Fame, the superstar has received congratulatory texts from peers and wrestling fans alike. However, not everyone is happy with Mysterio being elevated in the upper echelon of the promotion.

Take his own son Dominik, who has been unequivocal about his dislike and has threatened to ruin  senior Mysterio’s parade.

Though not that menacing, but The Judgement Day stable member may have found himself an ally, who, much like Dom Dom, has aired his discontent.

The complaints come from none other than WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, who said he has a major grievance regarding his former rival’s induction in the Hall of Fame.

Rey Mysterio’s induction marred by timing, says Kurt Angle

The Olympian gold medallist said he was happy for Mysterio, but questioned the timing of the rare honour.

Kurt Angle made the comments on the recent episode of “The Kurt Angle Show” podcast. “I think Rey being inducted into the Hall of Fame this prematurely, I think he deserves it still; I just don’t think it’s the right time,” the Hall of Famer said.

However, Angle added that the lucha-libre legend deserved the honor nonetheless, but insisted that it should have been done after his retirement.

Meanwhile, Rey Mysterio has no plans to stop his career anytime soon. In fact, he’ll be facing his son Dominik at WrestleMania 39, just days after his upcoming induction.

Angle, who has had some memorable encounters with Mysterio in WWE, lauded The Ultimate Underdog’s longevity in the wrestling business. “You have to realize this kid’s been wrestling for thirty-something years. This Hall of Fame induction was definitely going to happen, whether they did it now or later,” he said.

Rey Mysterio is set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by his long-time friend and wrestling legend Konnan.

Konnan addresses Hall of Fame participation

Popular wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer had tweeted the development regarding Mysterio and Konnan. However, the former WCW star has made his stand clear.

Speaking on his Keepin’ it 100 podcast, the 59-year-old said he will not be attending the Hall of Fame if the WWE doesn’t announce anything.

“Until WWE announces it, I won’t be doing one. So, they haven’t announced it,” Konnan said. However, his ties with the Mysterio family go deep. Apart from being a close friend of Rey, he is also Dominik’s godfather.

Despite his heelish behavior in WWE, Dominik Mysterio emerged as a thoughtful and empathetic man, as Konnan shared that the former was willing to risk his own life and donate him a kidney during his ailment. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to watch how Dom Dom ruins his father’s bright moment in the presence of his godfather at the Hall of Fame this week.
