The Bloodline story helped Sami Zayn to claim his much-deserved spot in the limelight of WWE. His feud with Roman Reigns and his family garnered tons of attention from the fans, making him a hot favorite among the masses. His rise to the top of WWE has coincided with the growing popularity of Cody Rhodes.

The two superstars have a cut-through competition when it came to be popular among the WWE Universe. ‘The American Nightmare’ recently opened up about him feeling insecure about Zayn’s popularity in the recent past.

Sami Zayn could steal Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania limelight

Rhodes recently had an interview with ESPN. During the interview, he confessed that the WWE Universe supporting the red-headed wrestler during his feud with Reigns was making him feel a little anxious about his place in Reigns’ storyline.

Rhodes said, “I wanted there to be a point where the audience decided. And that’s scary, but when you’re a young wrestler, you always get mad at other wrestlers doing well. But as you get older, it’s like, oh, great, that’s awesome.”

But deep inside, he knew everything will work out in his favor. He had faith in himself that his years of hard work would pay off. “I didn’t have a clue where it was ending or where it was going. But I knew there was going to be a positive. I knew the wave was coming for me,” the 37-year-old wrestler said.

The 6’2 star earned a shot at the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship after winning his first-ever Royal Rumble match in January this year. And Zayn’s feud with Reigns started after he turned his back on The Bloodline at the same event.

Fans were clamoring for Zayn to put in the title picture and have him compete at WrestleMania against Reigns. Even though the Canadian wrestler got a shot at Reigns’ title at WWE Elimination Chamber, and he lost, there was a possibility of him interfering in Rhodes’ quest to bring WWE’s most prestigious title home. In fact, the latter was all in for a triple-threat match at WrestleMania 39.

However, the creative team of WWE stuck to their idea with Reigns going on to defend his title against the 2023 Royal Rumble winner at The Showcase of Immortals. Whereas, the decision-makers in WWE gave a different course to Zayn.

The Underdog from the Underground will partner with his longtime best friend, Kevin Owens, to take on the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champions, The Usos at WrestleMania.
