Dwayne Johnson has been an inspiration to millions of fans across the globe. He has inspired numerous people to be a better version of themselves and to live a better life. While he received The Inspiration Award at The Grio Awards, a fan caught him off guard by reminding Johnson of his inspirations.

While Johnson was on his way to the venue, a certain individual who was working at the venue presented The Brahma Bull with a special gift. The fan presented him with two vintage posters. One poster had his father, Rocky Johnson, along with his grandfather High Cheif, Peter Maivia. The other poster had another of his inspirations, Patt Patterson.

As stated by Johnson, all three of his inspirations have sadly passed away. While receiving the award, Johnson shared that this award is dedicated to his father. According to him, his father was his biggest inspiration to help him navigate through his life. Rocky Johnson has been a prominent name in the pro wrestling industry. He went on to become the first black pro wrestler to win a WWE Tag Team Championship along with his partner Tony Atlas.

However, fans know not much about Johnson’s maternal grandfather, Peter Mavia. And to many people’s surprise, his impact on pro wrestling has been a prominent one.

How High Cheif gave some of the best pro wrestlers

Peter Mavia, also known as the High Chief was a prominent wrestler hailing from Samoa. He has been a pioneer in the industry as he has trained many up-and-coming wrestlers in his days, including Johnson’s father, Rocky Johnson. During this time, Rocky Johnson fell in love with then, Ata Mavia. Peter Mavia who was her stepfather was initially reluctant to their relationship. However, everything changed after Dwayne Johnson was born. Through his maternal side, Johnson shares a very strong lineage. While Rocky Johnson was the only professional wrestler from his family, Ata Mavia/Johnson hailed from a family of wrestlers.

The Anoai family happens to be one of the most respectable and prominent pro wrestling families in the industry. While Peter Mavia’s brother might not be particularly interested in the business, his children surely were. Many of his niece and nephews and their children eventually made their way to the world of pro wrestling. This is where Dwayne Johnson shares his lineage with other WWE stars such as  Rikishi, Umaga, Roman Reigns, and many others.
