WWE fans could not believe their ears and eyes when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made his return to the WWE this year. It was announced ahead of the Day 1 Edition show of RAW that a former champion would return to the flagship show. Fans were left disappointed when Jinder Mahal’s music hit, but it didn’t take long for The Great One to make his presence felt to a massive pop.
However, despite the audience blowing the roof off the arena, the viewership numbers did not see any boost. This comes as disappointing news since those numbers rose with CM Punk’s return.

The WWE has proven time and time again why Johnson is still a massive draw to the company. While he made multiple appearances at WrestleMania and other PLE’s this year he’s getting involved in The Bloodline’s storyline. This made fans excited, but not as much as the WWE hoped.

The return of Johnson on the Day 1 Edition of RAW proved one thing: fans love The Rock. The reaction, both by the fans in the arena and online, was thunderous. His hint at going after Roman Reigns was another shocker for the fans. However, reports indicate that this was not enough to get viewers for the Monday Night RAW episode.
