The Rock and Roman Reigns provided little to no help as the latest edition of WWE SmackDown went through a slight dip in the ratings. Reports showcase that SmackDown dropped 0.2% in overall viewership this week, with 2.469 million viewers tuning in.
The show featured major highlights and segments that have been trending, even if for the wrong reasons. This is still the second highest in terms of viewership since September 15th, 2023. However, there have been some ups and downs in other key factors. Here are the details.

It’s all about the numbers
The show averaged a 0.74 rating in the 18-49 demographic. It is a 4.2 percent hike from last week. The blue brand also managed to double everything else on network TV in the key demo. The show featured highlights such as the end of Damage CTRL as Bayley was betrayed by her stablemates and she chose Iyo Sky as her WrestleMania opponent. Another major highlight that made news for all the wrong reasons was Cody Rhodes walking out on the opportunity to fight Roman Reigns as he introduced Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as the Tribal Chief’s opponent for the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Compared to recent averages, there was still an 11.9 percent increase in overall viewers and 25.4 percent in 18-49. However, even with highly hyped-up moments couldn’t usurp last week’s viewership for SmackDown. And while the WWE has managed to secure good numbers on some sections of the show, they did end up with a number on social media that they will surely not be proud of.

WWE garners record low on YouTube for segment involving Rhodes, Johnson and Reigns
Incredibly, the WWE Universe has turned against their very own People’s Champion. In fact, they want to overthrow The Rock. And all this is after Cody Rhodes announced that he took the advice given to him by Dwayne Johnson and allowed him to wrestle Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
And ever since this infamous segment, #WeWantCody, has been trending on X for days, with which fans and even WWE wrestlers themselves, like Logan Paul, have asked Triple H to reverse his creative decision and allow Rhodes to finish his story by winning the undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40.

Another substantial proof is that the video with the complete segment where The Rock’s surprise appearance to challenge Roman Reigns occurs has already broken a record on the official YouTube channel. But a negative one, unfortunately. This video does not exceed 110 thousand likes. But it does pass more than 550 thousand dislikes. More than half a million dislike tells the WWE that something is wrong and that while fans want to see The Rock wrestle Roman Reigns in a big dream match, this is Cody Rhodes’ time to triumph.
