

Even though Roman Reigns is wrestling in WWE for more than a decade, we cannot forget what was his initial goal. Similar to his cousin Dwayne Johnson, ‘The Tribal Chief’ wanted to make a career in the NFL. However, due to leukemia, he wasn’t able to fulfill his dream of becoming a football player. But, he hasn’t forgotten some of the football tactics and moves that he uses in his WWE career.
In one of the viral clips recently shared by 247 Sports on Instagram shows how the current WWE Undisputed Champion did a cross-body splash in one of his college football games. A throwback to Reigns football career
The Needlemover had a roller coaster football career before WWE signed and he started wrestling in NXT. He was the defensive tackle during his time as an active football player. Reigns started playing football for Pensacola Catholic High School for three years. Furthermore, he also played one year at Escambia High School.

The Tribal Chief’s, next major time playing football came when he started playing for the Georgia Institute of Technology’s team, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Subsequently, the Minnesota Vikings, who had signed Brock Lesnar years prior, picked Reigns in the 2007 NFL draft.

However, they released him in a month after he was diagnosed with leukemia in a team physical. Jacksonville Jaguars also signed him, only to release Reigns in a week.

In this video, Reigns tried to tackle Brady Quinn by using a move similar to a pro wrestling Cross-Body Splash. The 38-year-old former Kansas City Chiefs player must have surely felt that extreme Samoan force of Leati Joseph Anoaʻi aka Roman Reigns. Similarly, the fans also felt the same as they commented on the video.

Reigns overall had a decent run in football. However, he became a bigger star in WWE and clearly, it was one of his best decisions.

Nevertheless, he went to Canadian Football League as The Rock did. Reigns played for one season with Edmonton Eskimos until they released him, following which he took retirement from football and joined WWE.
