CM Punk’s second run with All Elite Wrestling was a wild one. The star garnered a lot of fans due to his snarky attitude. He quickly became someone AEW stars could not mess with. And he did prove that at the backstage of AEW All In when Jack Perry did not comply with him. This eventually led to him being released from the promotion and Perry being suspended for an indefinite amount of time.

Since his departure from AEW, fans have been going wild with their speculations. Seeing how fans are anticipating his return to pro wrestling, he decided to join the bandwagon by teasing his fans.

The Straight Edge Saviour was a part of the commentary team at CFFC 127. This time, he decided to break the fourth wall on multiple occasions to purposely drop hints for the fans. A fellow commentator who was standing right next to him had a WWE logo in his suit’s pocket. It could be said it was kept in such a way as to look like an easter egg. Along with that, the commentators and Punk name dropped ‘Impact Wrestling’ a couple of times. It is rumored that Punk might be joining the Nashville-based promotion.

Punk has a relationship with mixed martial arts that spans years. During his time away from WWE, he had joined the now-WWE partner, UFC. He had a short stint from 2014 to 2018. Even though he did not have a fruitful career in the octagon, he has been a part of MMA by being a commentator for CFFC. This is not the first time he has dropped a hint about his next step. A few weeks ago, while commentating for CFFC, he subtly hinted that he has ‘two months’ at his disposal.

“Let Us Proceed”: CM Punk Drops Major Cryptic Message Amid WWE Return Rumors, Fueling Speculation About New Deal

While fans were still trying to contemplate the WWE and Impact Wrestling references, Punk dropped a jab at his last workplace. His fellow commentators and the 45-year-old star decided to take a dig at AEW in a not-so-subtle way.

During the commentary, fans could realize that the three commentators do have a fun time together. At the beginning of one of the fights, Punk was explaining the ‘lore’ behind the whole fight. As he was done explaining the lore, fellow commentator John Morgan said, “Amazing. You see what happens when you let CM Punk book a show?” To this, the Second City Saint replied in a whiff, “You get an entertaining show.”

AEW’s Collison was built around CM Punk. The storyline was tweaked a bit after Punk returned from his suspension after All Out in 2022. When Morgan asked him whether anyone decided to give Punk the liberty to book a show, he said, “No, nobody’s ever thought about that.” It was followed by a, “Where am I? Tunica [Mississippi]. All right.” AEW has hosted many house shows in the state of Mississippi and this comment might be a subtle hint at it.

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let’s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
