Colby Covington was all set to finally fight the welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman at Madison Square Gardens in the main event of UFC 242. However, that fight fell apart because Covington was not happy with the negotiations by UFC. This lead to Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz headlining MSG for a 5 round fight with the “Baddest Mother****** ” title on the line.

It has been very clear that Covington and Masvidal are not seeing eye to eye anymore. While Covington has trashed Masvidal in his last appearance on ESPN, Masvidal is not too happy with his former best friend Covington either. In addition to that, Covington doesn’t believe in the hype of Diaz vs Masvidal fight whatsoever.

In a recent interview with Chael Sonnen, Covington took a few jabs at his old buddy, Masvidal and said”

“Why would I care anything he is doing. He is fighting for the journeyman title. The Journeyman mother ****** title. He is 50-50 in his last four fight. He is 2 and 2. If you look at his last 10 he is 5 and 5. So he is a jobber and he is a bum.”

Well, Masvidal was not the only one Covington took a shot at. talking about Nate Diaz, Covington discredited all of Diaz’s achievements in UFC. He also called Diaz a gatekeeper of the division. Covington said:

I am not worried about that Stockton Soyboy Nate Diaz, what is he? 1-1 in the last three years. He got wiped out on the mat by Rafael Dos Anjos, he got wiped out Dong Hyun Kim. These are two guys I completely outclassed Chael. So those guys are just they are irrelevant to the division. They are just fighting for gatekeeper and journeyman title.

As much as fans hate Colby Covington, it’s hard to argue against some of the facts he has been putting forward. If you look at the records of Diaz and Masvidal, both of them have lost more than just a few fights in UFC. On the other hand, Covington has been dominating his opponents.

This is not the first time Colby Covington has said something about the Diaz brother. Recently Colby Covington also called out Nick Diaz to a fight too. It would be fascinating to see Nate Diaz responding to Covington trashing his much-anticipated fight with Masvidal.

Colby Covington won his last fight against Robbie Lawler and is supposed to fight for the title against Kamaru Usman most likely in December.
