Over the years, Epic Games developed, Fortnite has had crossovers that have attracted gamers and non-gamers alike to play the game as their favorite characters. It has collaborated with every pop culture icon imaginable from the Batman himself to the Kratos. Villains have also been a huge part of the game by introducing the Clown Prince Joker and Poison Ivy. But none has had more impact than the Marvel supervillain, Thanos.
The character first appeared in 2018 during the theatrical release of Avengers: Infinity War in a LTM called the Infinity Gauntlet Time Mashup. The overpowered character had one of the most enjoyable events in the history of Fortnite. However, he returned in 2019 during the release of Avengers: Endgame for the second time by invading the Fortnite island. But it looks like he might return sooner than expected.
In a tweet from popular Fortnite dataminer, Mang0e, it revealed a new update in the game’s code after the last patch that showed something interesting. The new updated code revealed an upcoming “XL” skin that would release in the game soon. The XL skin applies to a large playable character, a title that only Thanos has had in the game’s history.
This likely showed that the next hunter for the game would most likely be The Mad Titan himself. He probably would return as a Hunter in the Chapter 5 storyline of Hunters brought by the game’s main character Agent Jonesy. If it’s indeed Thanos, then he joins the likes of The Mandalorian, Kratos, Master Chief and many more in the Hunter’s category.
Even though an XL skin might suggest the return of Thanos, there could be another possibility that the new XL skin might be for someone new. One possibility might be Ant-Man that was highly teased. The Ant-Man can become tiny, but sometimes it grew into large sizes so that could be another possibility.
This could usher in a new character that no expected, but fans of the game might have an enormous surprise in store for the players as it reaches the climax of the current season.
