The global outbreak of Coronavirus continues to affect several events even right now. One of the worst affected sporting events is IPL 2020. Now, Alex Carey comes forward with his views on the indefinitely postponed cash-rich event.
Alex Carey earned his debut IPL contract with Delhi Capitals for the 13th season of Indian Premier League. IPL franchise Delhi Capitals bought the Australian Cricket player for INR 2.40 Cr. However, to his dismay, there is a rising chance that IPL 2020 will not be taking place this year.
“Currently, at this stage, it is looking likely that it might not go ahead. It would have been nice to be in Delhi and playing cricket. It was my first time selected to be a part of the IPL.”
During a video release, Alex Carey says that even though chances are that the season might not go ahead, he is not losing hope.
“I’m sure the world will move in the way we want it to, and there’s still that hope later in the season the IPL will go ahead and the T20 World Cup 2020, but we’ll wait and see.”
For now, the left-hander says that it is nice that he is getting to spend time with his family. Considering that Coronavirus comes with more negativity, Alex Carey is trying to focus on the positive. According to him, he is trying to get the most out of the refreshing change of pace.
“I look at it as I’m healthy, safe, and getting to spend a lot of time with my family. It was a big couple of years on the cricket field, so to have to spend time at home is quite nice.”
BCCI has postponed IPL 2020 indefinitely due to the extension of the nationwide lockdown of India.
