We all remember the moment the England Cricket team lifted the 2019 World Cup Trophy. Now, the former team coach, Trevor Bayliss, showers Eoin Morgan (England skipper) with praise and appreciation.
Trevor Bayliss appreciates Eoin Morgan as a Captain and player
There’s no doubt that Morgan is a great player and great leader. Rewinding back to 2015, England did not make it past the group stage during the World Cup. However, in 2019 they crushed every stage and won the title at their home ground – Lords.
Under Eoin Morgan’s captaincy, the team won their very first World Cup title along with becoming the champ in the ODI ratings.
Trevor Bayliss believes that he is thinker when it comes to the game. Furthermore, Morgan has the respect of the players and the coaches. This is very important when it comes to being the skipper of a national team.
“Morgs is a deep thinker. He has certainly got the player’s respect and as a coach, you definitely need that. What he did for the white-ball team over the last five years has been outstanding.”
Bayliss recalls the 2019 World Cup finals
The finals between England and New Zealand was a exhilarating match. The two teams fought it out on-field and even the super over was a tie. It was after boundary count that England seized the trophy. However, criticism about this rule that the team with more boundaries in the super over wins has poured in all over the world. ICC has decided to alter this rule.
Nevertheless, in the original super over, New Zealand needed two runs from one ball to win. However, Martin Guptill was run out when he was going for the second run.
Bayliss says, “I watch it every now and again. The hairs on the back of your neck still stand up when Jos Buttler takes the bails off. The feeling there was ecstasy.”
