Every individual has a story that makes others believe in the power of motivation. Indian player, Mohammad Shami, comes forward with some of his thoughts and opens his story for his fans.
Mohammad Shami reveals how he wanted to commit suicide
During an exchange with Rohit Sharma on Instagram, Mohammad Shami reveals how he battled several issues. Some of the issues included bodyweight, a rather unpleasant fight with his wife, and an injury. Shami said that there have been times when he wanted to commit suicide.
“I thought of committing suicide three times during that period due to severe stress.”
He reveals that there have been times during the period where his family was scared that he will end up taking his own life.
“We were living on the 24th floor. They were scared I might jump from the balcony.”
On top of that, the BCCI put a halt to Mohammad Shami’s contract due to domestic violence allegations. However, he got reinstated later.
The Indian bowler focused on his comeback to divert his mind
Shami reveals how his parents and friends constantly urged him to follow his passion for cricket and divert his mind. He restarted his practice at an academy at Dehradun.
“My two or three friends used to stay with me for 24 hours (during my days of depression). My parents asked me to focus on cricket to recover from that phase and not think about anything else.”
Obviously, as the statistics say, Mohammad Shami made a marvellous comeback to the Indian squad. His strong comeback during the 50-over World Cup resulted with him dismissing 14 wickets.
Since his debut for the Indian team in 2013, he has secured 180 wickets within 49 Test matches and 77 wickets in ODIs.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli praises him heavily saying that Mohammad Shami is a player who can change the face of a game.
“He is someone who can change the complexion of the match totally when you don’t see it coming”.
