India Vs Australia Series Will Be Affected Following Australia’s Six Month Lockdown

By 7 months ago

The world is under lockdown due to the rapid spread in COVID-19. Under these circumstances, it is unlikely that any sporting event will move forward. Social distancing is the primary method of reducing the spread of the virus. Hence, controlling crowds and engaging in social distancing will be next to impossible during sporting events. Keeping this in mind, it is possible the India Vs Australia series to begin in October 2020 will face obstacles.

Australia‘a six month lockdown will affect the India Vs Australia series

The Australian Government has decided to put the country under a six month lockdown. This means that the T20 series including the Test series of India Vs Australia will not be going ahead as per plans.

Currently, Australia is battling over 2000 positive cases of Coronavirus. Keeping this in mind, there is a high chance that the country’s borders will not reopen during October. With a border-ban, there is no possibility of the Indian team entering Australia. Not only will this mean that the India Vs Australia series is getting affected, but also the T20 World Cup.

An official of the BCCI says that it could become a nightmare if the international visa ban continues to exist. On top of that, other countries need to allow the players to travel as well.

“The processing of visa, tickets everything becomes a logistical challenge. Also not only Australia, England is supposed to tour India in September for their white ball leg. Will things be normal in the UK and players allowed to travel. These are big questions.”

Coronavirus outbreak is affecting sporting events globally

Uncertainty is not only the case for India Vs Australia series but also for Indian Premier League 2020. The cash-rich event was supposed to commence on 29th March. However, due to the virus outbreak, there is a possibility that IPL 2020 will not take place in 2021.
